THE 200th international game host T20 West Indies take on India Saturday, June 4 at Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain. The Indian team is without key senior players, and will kick off the month with the long series of one-off Twenty20 game.
The Indian team is without ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 star artists, as captain MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Gautam Gambhir and Zaheer Khan. In T20 and one day international young Suresh Raina leads the Indian team.
The Indian team has many national winners of matches in the team, who must prove themselves in the absence of important high-level actors. However, Suresh Raina and Virat Kohli are two most promising young cricketers in the team.
Yusuf Pathan, who is one of the most powerful hitters on the team, must prove its consistency. Rohit Sharma, who is regarded as one of the most talented batsman in India, has failed many times in international matches.
In the bowling, captain Suresh Raina has some quality bowlers including Vice-captain Harbhajan Singh, Munaf Patel, Praveen Kumar, R. Ashwin. Wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel is likely to open the innings.
The West Indies team is also without some of its star performers such as Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo and Kemar Roach. Dashing opener Chris Gayle, who scored over 600 runs in just concluded Indian Premier League, was not considered for selection by the Caribbean Council for any game in this series until it has a review with the board.
In Trinidad, there is no rain forecast for the weekend and the following week. Previously, there was heavy rain and is expected to get seamers pace and bounce from the pitch.
